Our craft-beer scene puts many other cities to shame, but will Vancouverites soon be drinking single malts instead of IPAs? One local industry expert thinks whisky will emerge as Vancouver’s next big trend in alcohol.
Roberto Roberti is a manager at Fountana Beverage Group, a locally based agency that imports liquors and spirits. He and his colleagues are working with two Vancouver whisky clubs to bring the city what he calls its “first real whisky festival”, taking place on Monday (January 18) at the Terminal City Club.
“As an agency, we’ve attended several whisky festivals in B.C., Alberta, and around the world, and we noticed that they were all the same,” says Roberti in a telephone interview with the Straight.
“We want to give people access to different brands, and to educational classes that they don’t need to pay extra money for. Above all, we want them to come in and leave having a better understanding of whisky.”
